ProPublica tries to Make Crowd Sourcing More Meaningful

ProPublica is taking a warmer approach to crowd sourcing. The online news organization creates Facebook groups and invites members to participate in discussion. The hosts of the discussion say they encourage civil and respectful conversations. One recent group was the Patient Harm Community Group and over 175 people participated. A ProPublica reporter called this service journalism and says that the way of disseminating information is changing. This idea claims that journalists are no longer the only parties that can deliver information. Traditional news articles aren’t always the best way to communicate with an audience.
