I’d like to introduce you to Mona Eltahawy. She is one of this year’s Missouri School of Journalism Honor Medal winners and she has a lot to say about her experience as a woman, a journalist and an Egyptian. Our class will have a chance to attend her master class in October. I highly recommend you read this article about her and then this essay that set off a storm of reactions in the Middle East.
I first learned about Mona after she was abducted by Egyptian police. A Twitter campaign had started for her release. I am honored we have a chance to meet her. I hope you will too!
