The 140 Best Twitter Feeds of 2012 | TIME.com

producermatthew:

onaissues:

TIME just released their list of the Best Twitter Feeds. Jim Romenesko has collected a short list of the best News and Information accounts for you.

Who would you add to this list?

Are you on Twitter? Follow us @ONA and say hello.

Oh neat. I’m on this list.

Congrats Matthew!

There were several behind-closed-door discussions and back-and-forth emails about my Twitter methods, the sort of language I’d use in certain tweets, the frequency at which tweets went out and whether or not it was acceptable to mention or tweet competitors. In responding to the criticism, I made sure to let my managers know that I thought their viewpoints were valid, but I never suggested that I agreed with them.

Excerpt from a blog post I’m working on, which I hope to have done later today, on how my Twitter influence sharply fell at one job, then quickly rose at another. The above was describing my time at the ABC affiliate in San Francisco.

Look for the blog entry to land here later today.

Matthew is speaking in our class on Monday - And we may ask him a question or two about his experience working social media for a broadcast newsroom.

Producer Matthew: On Reuters

producermatthew:

Earlier today it was announced that I’ll be taking on a new role at a new place. Starting January 17, I’ll be working at Thomson Reuters under Anthony De Rosa (soupsoup) as deputy social media editor.

Response to the news has been incredibly overwhelming, but very exciting at the same time…

Matthew’s experience from unemployed to working in NYC is worth taking note. He’s worked his butt off not only for his career but for the improvement of the industry… I’m pretty proud of him and we’ve never even hung out in person yet!

One thing worth doing: read all of his links and experiences. He’s great at documenting his work and sharing lessons learned. You can follow his track, get a great job and help change journalism… If you want to!

My friend Matthew Keys (whose Tumblr is followed by this Tumblr) put together this fantastic Tumblr guide for journalists. Obviously it should be linked to this page!
